• Fresh applications have closed on Wednesday, 20 May, 2020.

  • If you have already filled in an application form and paid the application fee, you can log in and update your personal and academic details. In particular, you can select Update personal information to update your choice of exam centre.

The CMI entrance examination rescheduled from 15 May, 2020 to 1 Aug, 2020 is again postponed. The new date is not yet fixed and will be decided depending on how the Covid-19 situation evolves around the country. The exam will not be held before 15 September, 2020. The exact date will be announced as soon as it is confirmed.

Given the uncertainty regarding the date of the entrance examination, students will be allowed to update their choice of examination centre after the rescheduled date is announced.

The entrance examinations are usually conducted in two sessions, as follows.

  • Morning session, 09:30-12:30

    BSc (common exam for BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Computer Science, and BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Physics)

  • Afternoon session, 14:00-17:00

    • MSc/PhD Mathematics
    • MSc/PhD Computer Science
    • MSc Data Science
  • You can apply to at most one of the three PhD programmes: PhD Mathematics, PhD Computer Science and PhD Physics.

  • If you apply for PhD Mathematics or PhD Computer Science, you must write the entrance exam for that programme.

  • For PhD Physics, there is no separate entrance exam. You can only apply if you have written JEST-2020. You cannot apply to any other programmes in combination with PhD Physics.

  • You can apply for PhD in Mathematics in combination with MSc Mathematics. There is a common entrance exam for both categories. You cannot apply to any other programme in combination with PhD Mathematics.

  • You can apply for PhD in Computer Science in combination with MSc Computer Science. There is a common entrance exam for both categories. You cannot apply to any other programme in combination with PhD Computer Science.

  • You can apply to any combination of the three MSc programmes: MSc Mathematics, MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science.

    The combination that you can apply for depends on entrance examination that you have to chosen to write.

    • If you have selected the MSc Mathematics entrance examination, you can apply to all three MSc programmes..

    • If you have selected the MSc Computer Science entrance examination, you can apply to MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science, but not to MSc Mathmatics.

    • If you have selected the MSc Data Science entrance examination, you can only apply to MSc Data Science.

    If you apply to multiple MSc programmes, you will be short-listed based on your performance in the exam that you write and called for an interview for the other programmes.

  • Since the entrance examination has been postponed, Admit Cards will not be issued on 6 July, 2020 as announced. The revised date for downloading Admit Cards will be announced after the date of the entrance examination is finalized,

  • In light of the uncertainty regarding the date of the entrance examination, students will be allowed to update their choice of examination centre after the rescheduled date is announced.

  • There is no photograph or signature required for the Admit Card. You will have to carry a print out of the Admit Card to the Test Centre along with a photo-identity card. The photo-identity card can be a government issued document like a passport or Aadhaar card, or an identity card, or a letter attested by your school/college/employer.
